Becoming a companion with Want Some Company is one of the most rewarding ways to earn flexible income while making a genuine difference in people's lives. Here's everything you need to know to decide if it's right for you.
What Does a Companion Actually Do?
Companions spend time with clients — sharing meals, attending events, going on outings, providing conversation and warmth. The work is social, not clinical. You don't need to provide personal care, medical support, or counselling.
What you do need is:
Who Becomes a Companion?
Our community of companions is remarkably diverse:
The one thing every successful companion has in common: they genuinely enjoy people.
The Application Process
How Much Can You Earn?
Companions set their own rates. Most companions on the platform charge between $50 and $150 per hour, depending on the activity, their experience, and local market rates. You keep the majority of what you earn.
Many companions work part-time, 5–15 hours per week. At the higher end of rates, that's a meaningful supplementary income.
Setting Boundaries
Professional boundary-setting is something we take seriously and train companions on. Clear, consistent boundaries are what make platonic companionship work — for everyone.
Clients understand and agree to these boundaries when they join the platform. If a client ever behaves inappropriately, companions have immediate support and recourse through our team.
Is This Right for You?
Ask yourself:
If the answers are yes, we'd love to have you in our community.
